Melt is a performance piece based on Laurie Anderson’s “Duets on Ice”. nicoykatiushka enter the space with ice skates on and get on the 4 x 3 ice block, immediately kissing. The performance lasts until the block of ice has melted. Melt usually last between four to six hours. nicoykatiushka performed Melt at Exit Art in 2006 for the Trickster Theater: Drop (water series) and then again at Time Square Alliance in 2011 for Museo del Barrio's 2011 (S) Files Biennale.

Inspired by the opera Einstein on the Beach, originally created in 1976 by Robert Wilson and Philip Glass, Mr. Wilson has selected five teams of artists to re-interpret sections of the seminal work.

Four scenes and the Knee Plays (short pieces presented between and connecting the four acts of Einstein on the Beach) are the sources of inspiration for these new works. On The Beach celebrates a new generation of artists and their reactions to an opera that is widely recognized as one of the greatest artistic achievements of the 20th century.
